Resources Board Fundamentals

Discover the necessary knowledge and insights for world-class governance of a resources company.

Course Overview

Too many excellent executives never make it into the boardroom, and too many directors have only one term on a board and then never get reappointed.

In this succinct course, Julie leverages her extensive board experience to provide contemporary insights for resources boards and leaders.

Participants will gain world-class knowledge and board level acumen around:

  • How to think like a director, rather than a manager or consultant
  • How to practically discharge director duties
  • Financial oversight for resources boards
  • The board’s role in risk management
  • Succession planning and director development
  • CEO oversight and guidance

The course starts with foundational understanding of the board and director’s function, to ensure common understanding, then tackles the key issues and best-practice required by those governing the best interests of stakeholders. The course is enriched with real examples and case studies, contributions from resources company directors, practical tips and techniques, and short reinforcing quizzes.

This course is tailored for aspiring and emerging directors and leaders of mining companies, and operating subsidiaries, including joint ventures. The course will also be valuable to investors, financiers and professionals servicing the mining industry.
